mike meiré’s abode

What happens when a die-hard minimalist marries a jeweler and invites children into his life? Rebellion from the aesthetic. And damn successful rebellion if you ask me. This is the apartment of Mike Meire, the man behind some highly stripped back designs for the likes of Artek and Dornbracht. It's fascinating how life changes can alter the way we work.

This space is so beautifully composed but at the same time, not composed. Lived in, loose and unfussy, it hangs together effortlessly. The timber panelling, skylight and artwork are in comfortable conversation and the casually strewn indoor plants are the welcome sidekicks that glue it all together. Beautiful, warm and intriguing, is it not?

Maybe this jeweler is indirectly changing me too. Who would have thought I'd blog about a space with a gold swan bath spout? Okay, okay it freaks me out but I maintain that this apartment is totally the business.
