cottage renovation by proarh architects

Monday 11 February 2013

A new steel and glass insertion slides into the side of this existing cottage in Zagore, Croatia. The addition transforms the qualities of natural light in the space, providing a new kind of liveability and a greater connection to the surrounding landscape. The simplicity of the new object is discreet and remains respectful to the existing thatch cottage. In fact, I think the taut glossy box makes the deliciousness of the textured thatch cladding all the more appealing.

Will the Miesian box ever get old? Meh. Doubt it.
