melbourne house by jessica liew

I swear I've looked at the Houses Awards shortlist a million times but every time I visit, I find another gem. This one is by young, local architect, Jessica Liew and is the home she designed for herself.

What's most striking is the entry hall; a heavy, solid box box. A very deep opening punctures through the street facing elevation. The weightiness of the structure is exacerbated by the rough, textured stucco surface, particularly when set against the spindly steel doors within the opening. With polished concrete floors and painted bricks internally, the material palette is raw, robust and utterly delectable.

It looks like something you'd find in Brazil, rather than the streets of Melbourne, wouldn't you say? I'd love to know how it sits within the streetscape. At the risk of sounding like a stalker, does anyone know exactly where this house is?

  1. Hi admin,
I read your blog, its really awesome,

A house for rent by owner is a business, and you have to manage it like any other business. Determine the rent and know how much to charge for rent. Charge too little and you lose money, and if you exceed the standard rate, your house remains vacant.
