share design.

Wednesday 21 March 2012

Share Design is a new website and brainchild of established interior designers Shareen Joel and Miranda Lansell (of Carr Design Group). It is essentially a peek into their black book of product knowledge, focusing on the more affordable end of the market. It's an online compendium of materials, finishes, furniture...basically anything you can think of.

The website also dissects a selection of built examples like the Finnish house shown below. For each space, they note everything from the paint colour to the light fitting right down to the artwork. Each project is sublimely beautiful so it's definitely worth checking out, if even just gawk at all the juicy imagery.

It's exciting to see established professionals contributing to the public body of knowledge and making good design accessible for everyone. Admittedly, the website does risk over simplifying good design to a "get the look" attitude. Maybe it's a result of having to speak to a generic audience? Nevertheless, an awareness of suppliers is a huge part of pulling off a successful design outcome so ultimately, I think many will find it a useful design tool. So go forth, get clicking and give your eyes a nice treat!

Thanks to my lovely friend Laura for the tip off!
