hump day happy place: scattered cloud

Wednesday 21 November 2012

Scattered Cloud is an installation by one of the champions of contemporary choreography, William Forsythe. (I think he's one of those people who just like to be masters of everything. What a greedy guts.) Held at the Bockenheimer Depot in Frankfurt, Germany, white balloons filled the volume of the space. The density was just great enough that visitors had to negotiate through the suspended balloons, being aware of their movements and their relationship with the physical space. In some ways it created an improvised choreography.

I'm up for a bit of mid-week dancing with balloons. Waltzing through those pearly bubbles seems pretty magical to me. Who's with me?
