Despite our scientific understanding of what they are and how they work, clouds still manage to arouse our curiosity. Ethereal and whimsical, it's no wonder so it's a common subject matter for artists. Here are four visual cloud bites for your Friday:
1. Cloud Ladder by Perrine Lievens. Materials unknown for this imaginative and cheeky one, but my guess is felt. Image via Trendhunter.
2. Ping pong by Daniel Arsham. Glue and ping pong balls. The varying pastel shades (which are mighty delicious, I might add) exaggerate the three dimensionality of the sculpture. Image via Colossal.
3. Milk Cloud by Crow. Made of recycled milk bags.
4. Nimbus Series by Berndnaut Smilde. Clouds are recreated using smoke, moisture and light. With great attention paid to location and lighting, the cloud event becomes so much more than a scientific experiment. The works are so fleeting that their primary means of communication is through photography. Images via Colossal.
