paper jewellery by nel linssen.

Monday, 4 July 2011

I find Nel Linssen's jewellery fascinating on so many fronts. Firstly, her work is predominantly made from paper; a unique and challenging material choice. She also resists the use of glue and other adhesives, instead investigating different ways of interlocking the paper forms to create chains of complex structures. Lastly, due to the absence of adhesives, her jewellery is dynamic. It shifts its many parts, moving like vertebrae in response to its wearer's movements. Amazing.

I suspect Nel Linssen is some sort of mathematical/creative genius. I'd love to borrow her brain for a day.

Thanks to my sister for sending me the link to Nel Linssen's website.
