materials and details

Timber handrail piggybacking folded steel support at House over the Ria de Aveiro by RVDM via Archdaily.

I supsect that Pinterest is out to achieve world domination. I'm not entirely sure how the interwebs works but somehow in the space of a few weeks, my followers leapt from a couple of hundred to over a thousand. Crazy. This Pinterest machine is just growing like wildfire.

To mark hitting quadruple digits, I'd like to share some of my favourite pins from my favourite board, Materials & Details. Apologies if you're already following but there are some seriously clever architects out there who must be ploughing through reams of yellowtrace to resolve these bad boys. I think these are absolutely worthy of a second look. Gosh, I'm such a sucker for these neatly packaged material junctions.

Clockwise from top left:

1. Timber details at Elysium Lot 170 by Richard Kirk Architects via Architizer
2. Recessed finger pull at Playa Del Rey Bathroom by Disc Interiors
3. Timber screen at House by NADAA via Dwell.
4. Stair and handrail at Bromont House by Paul Bernier Architects via ArchDaily
5. Step and door detail at Castelvecchio by Carlo Scarpa. Photographed by Peter Guthrie via Flickr
6. Timber fins at Office Solvas by Graux & Baeyens Archiecten via ArchDaily.
7. Timber stair at House S by Nimrichter CDA Architects via House Variety.
8. Paper thin white steel stair at Hangar by Arantxa Manrique Yaiza Terre via hicarquitectura
If you're looking for pinners to follow, some of my favourites include Justin FRometMontse Gimferrer, HolmbergMoaThe MinimalistKate ChalmersKarryn DargieMateuz Storlarski and my two buddies Caitlin and Jenna. Apologies if this list means you lose the next couple of hours of your life to the Pinterest vortex. At least it's Friday, right?

Lots of guest posts are lined up for the next few weeks while I drown in installation commitments. Small clue: two guests are from the little list above. Yay!
